The Photographers' Archives and Legacy Project is a pioneering, national research project led by photographer Jem Southam, Professor in the School of Art and Media at Plymouth University.

The research explores how contemporary photographic practices can have a sustained legacy.

It looks at how UK-based, independent photographers, now and for the long-term, can make their work and related contextual material publicly accessible, and increase opportunities for the general public, researchers and students to learn about and enjoy their work.

Here you can find out more about the research, why we are doing it and our project partners. You can find case studies showing how some photographers are thinking about this issue. You can register to be kept informed of future events.

These 'questions for photographers' are to help you think about your archives. We welcome your experience and views on the issue.
